Remodels and Additions

Remodeling of your home can add value and comfort. Whether you are adding a room or installing a new kitchen or bath, we strive to make the renovation/remodel experience as pleasant as possible and to minimize any disruption to your daily life.

At LARSON CUSTOM HOMES, Inc., we take great effort to complete jobs on time and within budget, and we work closely with our customers throughout the planning and building process. We do not engage in the practice of underbidding projects, which leads to expensive overruns in the end. Our proposals are based on our discussions, architectural drawings, industry codes and standards and, most importantly, our 30 years of on-the-job-experience.

The Remodel Process

1. Depending on the size of your remodel, you may need to arrange for financing. Contact a bank or mortgage company to ensure you qualify for the needed funds.

2. After contact is made with LARSON CUSTOM HOMES, Inc., a meeting will be arranged in your home. This first meeting will allow us to get to know one another. We will discuss your visions, answer your questions and provide input for your consideration. While some customers have pictures or sketches of what they want, it is not unusual for homeowners to be uncertain of the details of their project. At this meeting, we will take pictures and measurements and discuss designs and budgets.

3. The next step is a second meeting where you will be able to review a preliminary design (if necessary) and talk more specifically about details and features.

4. After the design has been approved (it can take several meetings to arrive at a desirable design), we will prepare a cost estimate for you. During the estimating process, we may have to meet with subcontractors at your house to get prices from various trades. A meeting will be arranged to go over our estimate with you. The estimate may include different budget options and will include a copy of the building contract for your review.

5. Once price is agreed upon, a contract will be signed and financing will need to be finalized. Following that, we will obtain the necessary permits and construction will begin.

6. Work hours are typically between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

7. We will need a means of access to the jobsite. Typically a key is kept in a lock box attached to the house.

8. We take pride in our efforts to work quickly and efficiently. We will protect your floors, screen off the work area, keep the work site clean and minimize disruption to your personal routines. Working on a house creates a lot of dust; though we make every effort to keep the dust out of your house, 100% containment is impossible, so furnace filters will need to be changed frequently. We will take extra care to protect anything you direct us to cover. We recommend moving heirlooms or valued possessions to a different location.

9. After each day’s work, we will leave the jobsite orderly and “broom clean.”

10. Remodeling your home is our commitment to you. You can expect that when we show up we will stay until the job is complete, on time and within budget.
